Istoria Festival Brings Three Days of Music and Wellness to Lombok

The Istoria Festival Lombok edition kicks off today, October 16, and it’s a slightly unusual one: three days of electronic music mixed with yoga, sound healing and hands-on craft workshops, all built around a single resort instead of a field full of stages. The 2024 edition was held in Bali, and this year the organizers picked Lombok.

Istoria Festival Lombok at a glance

According to the ticket page on Megatix, the festival runs from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, October 16, then from noon to 4 a.m. on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18, so the final session wraps up in the early hours of October 19. The organizer’s own site describes it as October 16 to 19, and its footer gives a wider October 9 to 19 window, which appears to cover the small-group trips Istoria runs before the festival, although the page doesn’t spell that out. It’s an 18-plus event.

The venue is Living Asia Resort. The organizers describe it as being in Senggigi, but the address on the ticket page is in Malaka, in the Pemenang district of North Lombok, a little further up the coast. If you’re heading there, use the full address rather than just Senggigi in your map app.

Who is playing

The lineup on the ticket page leans toward electronic music. Friday has Inrico, Aleceo and ÜNAM, plus a surprise set after midnight. Saturday brings Siggi, Saif Touati, Cl1nk, Dalah, Deepesh Sharma and Try-Ky. Sunday features Arln, Tuned Roots, Ezza, Aracil, Hearthug and neBilA deussaL. The organizer’s site also lists Tom Kenzler and says more artists were to be announced, so the final lineup may differ slightly.

The wellness and culture side

This is where Istoria tries to stand apart. According to the ticket page, the wellness program is included in the ticket price and covers yoga, sound healing, breathwork, fascial reprogramming, handpan sessions and a cacao ceremony, with a Hindu fire ceremony and sound healing on the opening night. On Saturday and Sunday, the day starts with yoga at 8 a.m., and a cultural village runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with workshops in Sasak weaving, pottery, jewelry making, batik and wood carving.

That Sasak weaving workshop is a nice touch. Weaving is one of the island’s living traditions, and if it sparks your interest, our Sasak culture guide is a good next step.

Packages and prices

The organizer sells stay-and-festival packages. At Living Asia Resort, three nights with breakfast and full workshop access are listed from €650 for one person in a shared room, €1,250 for a double and €1,850 for a triple, though the booking forms on the same page show €1,300 and €1,950 for the double and triple, so confirm the price before you pay. A cheaper option at Lombok Soul Villas, described as a 10-minute walk from the festival, starts at €550 for one guest, €890 for two and €1,450 for a two-bedroom villa for four. We couldn’t find a standalone ticket price, and neither page says whether packages are sold out, so check with the organizer directly. Prices are listed in euros, a hint at the international crowd Istoria is aiming for, and the page doesn’t say whether they include tax. Tickets are sold through Megatix, where the seller is listed as Istoria Bali.

Should you go?

If you like the idea of a festival where you can go from a sunrise yoga class to a sound bath to a late-night DJ set without leaving the grounds, Istoria is built for exactly that. It’s not cheap, and with the festival already underway, last-minute availability is the big unknown. Either way, it’s a sign of the kind of smaller, experience-led events Lombok is starting to attract. You can follow what else is coming up in our Lombok events calendar.

If the festival packages are full, or you’d simply prefer a quieter bed to come back to, a calm beachfront stay a little further down the coast in Mangsit puts you within reach of the festival and the sunsets alike.
